Kaddish and the Ethics of Honor
Kaddish and the Ethics of Honor
Ethical dilemmas surrounding the sacred tradition of reciting Kaddish:
- Do undeserving relatives merit the gift of kaddish or other posthumous kindnesses?
- Is it ethical to accept payment for saying kaddish or performing other moral duties?
- How should conflicts over communal honors—such as aliyah or yahrzeit rights—be resolved?
