About the Speaker:
The Honorable Louis H. Kornreich served for fourteen years as Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maine, where he also contributed as a member of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the First Circuit and as a visiting judge in Delaware and New Hampshire. Judge Kornreich is highly respected for presiding over some of Maine’s most significant and complex bankruptcy reorganizations, including the Great Northern Paper and Androscoggin Energy cases. Since retiring from the bench, Judge Kornreich has specialized in mediation, consulting, and fiduciary services across North America. His ability to resolve intricate disputes with practical, cost-effective solutions has made him a sought-after expert in the legal field. In addition to his judicial accomplishments, Judge Kornreich has devoted decades to Jewish education and community leadership. As president of Congregation Beth Abraham in Bangor, Maine, he taught Jewish philosophy and ethics for over 30 years. He also serves on the advisory board of the Jewish Law Institute at Touro College’s Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Judge Kornreich lives in Maine with his wife, Patricia. Together, they are proud parents of four married daughters and grandparents to twelve grandchildren residing in Israel and America.
