Dignity on Death Row
Dignity on Death Row
What one man’s death row story reveals about punishment, human value, and the soul of our justice system.
A provocative webinar that explores the moral, legal, and spiritual questions raised by the case of Scott Dozier—a convicted murderer who demanded to be executed and became a national flashpoint for debates on dignity and the death penalty.
Featuring Emmy Award–winning journalist Gianna Toboni, author of The Volunteer, whose gripping investigation into Dozier’s life and death confronts us with unsettling truths about punishment, agency, and the soul.
Together with insights from a leading attorney and a prominent rabbi::
- Do individuals who commit heinous crimes still retain a right to dignity?
- How can the legal system impose punishment without dehumanizing the offender?
- What is the Talmudic perspective on punishment and the death penalty?
- What do Jewish ethics teach about the inherent worth of even deeply broken people?
